Changing Lemon Grove: PhotoVoice Focuses on Healthy Eating Active Living

Free training will teach residents how to advocate for healthful changes in the city through a photography project.

The Lemon Grove HEAL Zone project will host two community PhotoVoice training and captioning sessions throughout the grant period, starting Friday at the Lemon Grove Community Center. A healthy dinner will be provided.

There is room for 16 participants. Project organizers would love to have residents interested in learning and applying PhotoVoice techniques to advocate for community changes focusing on healthy eating and active living through environmental change in Lemon Grove.

The Friday training will cover PhotoVoice history, photography basics, and other logistical details. At the end of the evening, we’ll distribute disposable cameras, consent forms, and pre-paid return envelopes for each participant to snap their photos and drop the cameras in the mail for developing.

The second training session will be dedicated to capturing the photographer’s voice in writing to caption their photos.

Participants must be available to participate in both sessions:

  • Friday, Oct. 19, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Friday Nov. 16 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Please contact Melanie Briones if you are interested in participating in this training! This is a great way to meet others interested in making the healthy choice, the easy choice in Lemon Grove through photography.

Nice if you can actually pass such a bill but we are dealing with politicians who cherish the powerRead More they have attained rising to the top. In actuality this has "A Snowballs Chance In Hell" of passing, but kudos for the effort.
