Chili with Some Variety

This week's cook-off offers dinner and a show.

Hope you all aren’t chili’d out, because Lemon Grove has another cook-off this weekend.

Friday evening, is holding a , complete with a chili cook-off. The night will include the talent of many locals of all ages, with various acts. The variety show auditions took place in October and the finalists will take the stage at the church Friday at 6:15 p.m.

Following the performances, a chili dinner will be served. Proud chili cooks will serve up three types of chili: meat, meatless for you vegetarians out there, and spicy for those who like to cry when they eat. The chili will be served at 7:30 p.m., with a blind judging by a group pre-selected panel. First and second place will be awarded for all three categories.

Donated gift baskets will be raffled off throughout the event and guests are welcome to bring some cornbread to donate as a side dish to the meal. Proceeds from the night’s admission will benefit Acquire the Fire, a Christian youth event, and SEP So Cal youth camp.

Ready for round two of the chili fun? Visit the church, located at 3205 Washington St., Friday at 6:15 p.m. for the variety show. Cost is just $5 for the show and the chili dinner. Bring a friend or take the whole family and keep warm with the good company and hot food!
