DID YOU FEEL IT? A 3.2 Quake Shook the Area Today

The 2:28 p.m. temblor was centered near Santa Catalina Island, authorities said.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 hit this afternoon about 13 miles west of Del Mar, but caused no reported damage or significant ground tremors.

The 2:28 p.m. temblor was centered near Santa Catalina Island, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake had was initially reported as a 3.2.

No emergency calls resulted from the shaker, according to dispatchers with several northern San Diego County public-safety agencies. The surf off the coast of Del Mar remained mild following the reported time of the quake, a city lifeguard said.
