Eye on the Prize: Lemon Grove Eyeglass Drive Ending Soon

There's not much time left in the Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary eyeglass and prescription sunglasses drive.

With just about a week left in a local drive for used prescription glasses for charity, organizers of the event are looking for a final boost in donations to reach their goal.

Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary is hosting its second annual eyeglass and prescription sunglasses drive during the month of March.  The glasses collected will go to those in other countries who need them.

The inaugural drive brought in 160 pairs of glasses last year.  This year, organizers are hoping to beat that number, and according to Grant Conrad— they're getting close.

To date, more than a hundred pairs of glasses have been collected, and Conrad is hoping some more people will come by with pairs by the end of the month.

They're working in conjunction with the La Mesa Lions Club, who will hand the glasses off to Lions in Sight, an organization that recycles the glasses "to the needy and low-income citizens in economically disadvantaged countries."

The glasses must be in good condition, and not in need of any repairs. Prescription glasses and sunglasses are both welcome.

Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary is located at 7387 Broadway, and the lobby will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
