Flu Shots for People Age 60 and Older at Lemon Grove Senior Center

Health officials urge seniors to prepare for the new flu season.

A flu shot clinic for people ages 60 and older will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Lemon Grove Senior Center. A new vaccine is available for the 2012-2013 flu season.

According to the CDC, it is especially important for people who are at risk of developing serious complications like pneumonia if they get the flu to get the shot as soon as possible.

Influenza seasons are unpredictable, and can begin as early as October, says the CDC.

At-risk groups are

  • People who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease
  • Pregnant women
  • People 65 years and older

The flu shots costs $2. For more information, call 619-337-1425 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
