O Negative? Your Blood Is Needed

Make a donation to San Diego Blood Bank this weekend in Lemon Grove—without the scary vampire teeth.

Just in time for Halloween, when the vampires are out at night, a local church is holding a blood drive this weekend.

in Lemon Grove is hosting a for the San Diego Blood Bank. Blood donations are always in need. According to the San Diego Blood Bank website, “O negative blood is always needed because if you are O negative, you are the universal donor and any other blood type can take your blood. If you are AB positive you can receive any type of blood. However, AB donors who are both AB positive and AB negative are universal plasma donors.”

The Blood Bank accepts any blood-type donations and even might ask you for a platelet or plasma donation instead of blood. Blood donations are critical to transfusion patients and newborns and the need for them rises during holidays.
