Hundley Slides Into Lemon Grove to Do a Good Deed

The Padre catcher reads to children while helping deliver a donation to the community's new library.

A Padre came to town Tuesday, trading his catcher's gear for something safer – books to read to the kids at Lemon Grove's newest library.

The San Diego Padres partnered with the library and Ashford University not only to entertain the children on a summer's day but also to support the new facility, according to the team's Twitter feed.

The library opened three weeks ago and is located at the Lemon Grove Academy for Sciences and Humanities.

It's not the first time Hundley has entertained the children in Lemon Grove. He visited last year to read to kids too.

Ashford University has been supporting other local libraries as well. Earlier this month, pitcher Clayton Richard visited Chula Vista and the university donated $1,000 to the local library.
