A Ramona woman suspected of drunken driving was arrested this week after a high-speed chase that ended with her crashing her car in Poway. But it's what Edith Cordoba-Chavolla was wearing when she was taken into custody that really caught everyone's attention.

Imperial Beach Patch

An investigation into the source of gunfire during the July chase of an attempted murder suspect has determined  three shots were fired by a Sheriff's deputy, and one by a resident of an Imperial Beach home. The conclusion is at odds with initial statements by sheriff's department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell, who said law enforcement did not fire any shots during the pursuit that ended in a SWAT standoff with Ramiro Espinoza.

The single shot was fired by Elfred "Gunny" Guntrum when Espinoza ran through his yard. The San Diego County District Attorney's Office will determine whether further action is taken.

Coronado Patch

Police don't know who broke into a Coronado bike shop, but they do know the perp—or perps—left empty handed. Authorities say the would-be burglar got into Holland's Bicycles on Orange Avenue just after 5 a.m. Sept. 12. through a roof vent, setting off an alarm once inside the store. Everything in the store was accounted for however, and it appears the unknown suspect left the same way he or she got in.
