Leader No. 15: Kim Moore Started Company With the Soul of Service

The 27-year-old has coordinated HIV testing events, community cleanups among other projects.

According to her colleagues, Kim Moore defines energy and compassion.

Moore—founder of Soul Revision Consulting, a public relations and business consulting company—has also worked in the social service field for the past seven years.

The 27-year-old has coordinated National HIV Testing Day events, community cleanups and is a advocate for women’s health and reproductive rights.

Moore said she founded a place that fosters her principles.

“I cared about people and wanted to do my best to make a difference in any way that I could,” she said. “I knew that in order for me to do that I would need to be in an environment where people felt the same way.”

She said her biggest accomplishment is Soul Revision Consulting, where she also works with nonprofits. She finds her inspiration in people who work for better communities.

“I’m inspired by everyday people who have made the choice to do more than what’s expected, the ones who have taken ‘can’t’ and turned it into ‘can,’ the ones who have fought against every stereotype that society has placed on them and most of all, the ones who have found innovative ways to do good in the world,” she said.

Advice for young people:

“It’s difficult to follow someone who tells you to do something they’ve never done. There’s much more to being a leader than that. An effective leader (regardless of age, gender, nationality, etc.) is one who serves, and being a servant leader is all about self-sacrifice. You have to be willing to sacrifice your individual wants for the greater needs of humanity. Don’t focus on the title; work on serving your community and the people around you—this is where the essence of true leadership lies.”
