Do you have a pair of old eyeglasses or sunglasses lying around the house? Well, rather than letting them collect dust or get lost in that kitchen junk drawer, one Lemon Grove business is asking you donate them to a good cause.
Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary is hosting its second annual eyeglass and prescription sunglasses drive during the month of March to benefit those in other countries who need them.
They're working in conjunction with the La Mesa Lions Club, who will hand the glasses off to Lions in Sight, an organization that recycles the glasses "to the needy and low-income citizens in economically disadvantaged countries."
"Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary and the La Mesa Lions Club is answering [Helen] Keller’s plea to become 'knights of the blind in this crusade against darkness' by placing an eyeglass collection box in our mortuary lobby this month," Grant Conrad said in an event announcement on Patch.
The inaugural drive, hosted last last year, brought in 160 pairs of glasses.
The glasses must be in good condition, and not in need of any repairs. Prescription glasses and sunglasses are both welcome.
Conrad Lemon Grove Mortuary is located at 7387 Broadway, and the lobby will be open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
