Lemon Grove Library Honors Teen Volunteer

Alan Hernandez recently was named the Teen Service Learner of the Year.

The San Diego County Library recognized National Library Week by saluting local volunteers.

The national celebration ran from April 14-20.

On National Library Workers Day last week, the Lemon Grove Library honored Alan Hernandez as Teen Service Learner of the Year, according to a news release.

Teen Service Learners do a variety of tasks as volunteers.  The experience they get enables students to boost their resumes and college applications by learning work skills while also giving back to the community.

Hernandez was nominated for the award due to his hard work and continued support as the library prepares to move to its new facility, officials said.

“Alan has been our go-to service learner.  I can count on him to do accurate work and he’s always willing to do new things,” said Debbie Khouri, library technician II.
