Congratulations to a host of Lemon Grovians who entered a variety of competions at this year's San Diego County Fair. Here's a look at who took home ribbons and honors in several categories.
CREATIVE YOUTH
Lola Herman won Best of Show in the Birdhouse division.
The Creative Youth exhibit showcases individual projects made by young people ages 5 to 17.
FINE ART
Thomas Tirado took third place in the Oil—Still Life & Florals class for a piece called Maguey #3.
Eric Rempe was awarded second place in the Ceramics class for an entry called Giganteus Bowl 1.
The Fine Art show is a juried competition open to artist age 18 and older. Two- and three-dimensional artwork in all media may be entered.
FLOWER & GARDEN SHOW—LANDSCAPE DISPLAYS
RCP Block & Brick earned an Award of Merit in the Small Professional Exhibit, 500 Sq. Ft. class.
GEMS, MINERALS & JEWELRY
Darcy Salzl won first place awards in the Three Cabochons, Worldwide, and One Cabochon, Worldwide, classes.
HOME & HOBBY FOOD
Jessica Baumann earned second place in the Cakes division, Any Cake with Fruit class.
Carol Carr was awarded first place in the Special Needs Baking division, Any Baked Item Except Pies class.
Pamela Carr took third place in the Cookie Jar, Candy Bar, Edible Structure division, Edible Structure class.
Lou Davis won first place in the Cookies division, Refrigerator class.
HOME & HOBBY CRAFTS
Cynthia Lohry took home first place, honorable mention and a special award for entries in the Beading division, in the Original Jewelry Design and Other Than Listed classes. In addition, her blue ribbon entry was named Best in Division.
HOME & HOBBY NEEDLEWORK
Pamela Carr took second place in the Sewing division for infants or toddler’s wear.
Peggy Morrison took second place in the Crocheting division in the Other Than Listed class.
