The Week Ahead

There are opportunities this week to get involved and help make Lemon Grove its best.

Happy Monday, Lemon Grove! Here's a look at the week ahead. Click on the links for more details.

1. Already worried about the stresses of the holidays? One sure way to help maintain a jolly attitude is by scheduling time to take care of yourself. Lemon Grove's Marianne West has just the thing— for the community.  With a focus on breathing, opening, stretching and strengthening the body, the one-hour class is suitable for all skill levels.

The class meets at 6 p.m. Mondays through Dec. 19 at the , 2910 Main St.

2. The City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the , 3146 School Lane. Council members will consider agreements that move along the Main Street Promenade project, discuss a shared-use agreement for Kunkel Park with St. John of the Cross School, and likely adopt a resolution opposing SDG&E's proposed “network use charge” on net-energy metering customers. 

3. A to discuss a possible school closure or reconfiguration will be held by the Lemon Grove School District at 6 p.m. Tuesday at 8425 Palm St. The school board will hear input from the public during the forum. It is the second of three meetings scheduled to address the issue.

4. Do housing options in Lemon Grove meet your needs? That's the question the city is asking as it readies for the 2011-2020 Housing Element update to the General Plan. Residents are invited to take part in to provide feedback that will help assist the city with draft goals and policies. There is also an online survey residents can take.

The first workshop starts at 6 p.m. Thursday at the , 3146 School Lane.

5. Downtown will be glowing with pride after a team of volunteers sweeps through with , sponsored by the Lemon Grove Sheriff's Station. The project will kick off at 7 a.m. Saturday with refreshments at Firefighter's Park, 3062 School Lane, then get to work between the 7000 and 8400 blocks of Broadway from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
