Vietnamese-Speaking Poll Workers Needed for Lemon Grove, County Says

Volunteers get stipends ranging from $75 to $175, and $15 extra for those fluent in other languages.

Vietnamese speakers are needed to work the polls in Lemon Grove on Nov. 6, says the county Registrar of Voters Office.

Daily stipends range from $75 to $175, depending on assignment—and volunteers fluent in another language earn an extra $15, the county says.

Poll workers must be U.S. citizens, 18 and older, who have registered to vote in California. But an exception is made for students taking part in their High School Student Poll Worker Program.

San Diego County has a special need for poll workers fluent in Chinese, Filipino, Spanish and Vietnamese.

Poll workers serve from 5:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Election Day at some 1,650 poll sites across San Diego County.

According to the county, the need is greatest in these neighborhoods:

English

Pacific Beach, Del Mar, Pomerado, University North (UTC, UCSD areas), University City.

Chinese

Del Dios, Encinitas, Rancho Peñasquitos, Mira Mesa, Poway.

Filipino

Del Dios, Oceanside, Chula Vista, Rancho Peñasquitos, Mira Mesa, Encanto, Paradise Hills, Spring Valley, El Cajon, Lakeside.

Spanish

Clairemont, Encanto, Paradise Hills, Lemon Grove, Spring Valley, Ramona, Jamul, Campo, Potrero, El Cajon, La Mesa, Santee.

Vietnamese

Del Dios, Oceanside, San Marcos, Vista, Chula Vista, Rolando Redwood, City Heights, Nestor, San Ysidro, South Park, Clairemont, Linda Vista, Rancho Peñasquitos, Mira Mesa, Pomerado, Encanto, Lemon Grove, El Cajon, La Mesa.

Besides being 18 and voting citizens, poll workers must have transportation to their assigned location, the county says. Depending on the job, they may also need access to the Internet to complete an online training and attend a two-hour class.

Nice if you can actually pass such a bill but we are dealing with politicians who cherish the powerRead More they have attained rising to the top. In actuality this has "A Snowballs Chance In Hell" of passing, but kudos for the effort.
