In East County Movie Theaters: 'Apollo 18'
A secret mission discovers a very dark side of the moon.
When Apollo 17 returned from space in 1972, its flight concluded the NASA space program that took man to the moon.
Or did it?
Now, classified footage of a secret mission has been unearthed and exposed the real reason we never went back—according to the science-fiction horror release Apollo 18, at least, in which two American astronauts return to space on a covert expedition that takes them to a very dark side of the moon.

Director Gonzalo López-Gallego’s thriller is shot in the documentary-film style that conjures up images of The Blair Witch Project, and NASA, bless them, wants the public assured they’ve not been duped over the decades.
“Apollo 18 is not a documentary,” Bert Ulrich, NASA's liaison for multimedia, film and television collaborations, told the Los Angeles Times. “We were minimally involved with this picture. We never even saw a rough cut. The idea of portraying the Apollo 18 mission as authentic is simply a marketing ploy.”

Apollo 18 has plenty of frights on board that mix fact and fiction. If you’re looking for a scare, it should be a blast.
