5 Freaky Fair Foods to Burst Your Belly

County fairs tend to go a little crazy with their summer cuisines, and this year, San Diego has taken it to another level with the Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe.

Whether that level is a step forward or step back—and toward the exit—is up to your tastebuds.

But that notorious treat isn't the only strange new food to hit the San Diego County Fair in 2013. Patch's Michelle Mowad has done us all the favor of sampling some of the weirdest items on this year's fair menu.

Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joe

• The sandwich consists of tangy sloppy joe sandwiched between two fluffy glazed Krispy Kreme donuts and sprinkled with cheese.

• It is ice cold root beer served with a bacon swizzle stick. The crispy bacon make it easy to stir the root beer or fish it out and snack.

• A strawberry and cream cream topping is dolloped on top of the crispy funnel cake and then whipped cream and powdered sugar are added to the sweet treat.

• The brownish pink coloring is surprising, but the taste and texture are just what you expect ... fluffy, sticky and sweet with a touch of bacon flavor.

• This jacked up grilled cheese has tender pulled pork with a serving of creamy macaroni and cheese between two slices of sourdough bread.
