Closed Trolley Track Will Slow Down Weekend Riders

Shuttle bus service will transfer Orange Line passengers between 47th Street and Encanto/62nd Street stations.

If you depend on the trolley to get you where you work or play this weekend, an improvement project is going to slow down the ride just a bit.

Trolley service on the Orange Line will be interrupted this weekend and next while a track replacement project is completed, according to the Metropolitan Transit System.

A stretch of track on the eastbound and westbound Orange Line will be replaced between the 47th Street and Encanto/62nd Street stations Sept. 17-18, and between the Euclid Avenue and Encanto/62nd Street stations Sept. 24-25.

Shuttle bus service will be provided to transfer trolley passengers between stations. MTS says riders should allow for up to 30 additional minutes of travel time.

The Orange Line runs through Lemon Grove and La Mesa. It connects with the Green Line, which extends north to Santee and west to Old Town, at the Grossmont Transit Center; and the Blue Line, which serves downtown San Diego and extends south to the San Ysidro Transit Center at the border.
