Clouds and Rain Likely to Conceal Supermoon

Our moon will be closer to Earth on Saturday than anytime within the past 18 years.

Saturday’s full phase brings our moon closer to Earth than anytime within the past 18 years. Our single celestial satellite will appear (to the discernible few) 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than a normal full phase, hence assigning it supermoon status. Saturday’s moon rising begins at 7:23 p.m. PDT. Whether we'll  be able to view it at all depends on forthcoming changing weather conditions, including rain.

Saturday night's forecast is mostly cloudy overnight with a low around 48° F. Rain is likely Sunday.
