Five Notable Helix Graduates

Successful, famous or notorious, these alumni have helped put Helix Charter High School on the map.

Maybe they sat next to you in biology or you saw them every Friday night at the football game. Share them in the comments section below.

Dennis Hopper, class of 1954

The internationally-known actor and director was famous for performances in film classics ("Easy Rider" and "Apocalypse Now") and blockbusters ("Speed"), as well as notorious flops ("Waterworld" and "Super Mario Bros.").

Tom Philp, class of 1979

The associate editor of the Sacramento Bee newspaper won the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Writing, in honor of "his deeply researched editorials on reclaiming California's flooded Hetch Hetchy Valley that stirred action."

Kyra Phillips, class of 1986

The anchor for the weekday edition of CNN Newsroom was named Reporter of the Year by the Associated Press in 1997. She has also won four Emmy Awards and two Edward R. Murrow Awards for investigative reporting.

Reggie Bush, class of 2003

The NFL running back for the New Orleans Saints is almost as famous for his dating life (he had long-term relationship with TV celebutante Kim Kardashian) as he is for the controversy surrounding his Heisman Trophy (won in 2005, returned in 2010 after allegations of impropriety).
