Heavy Rain Could Cause Mudslides

A flash flood watch is in effect from 1 p.m. through Saturday afternoon. Expect wet weather, wind and a possibility of thunderstorm.

With heavy rain expected from a strong winter storm moving into the region Friday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for San Diego County, warning that the wet weather could cause mudslides.

The strong winter storm is expected to bring heavy rain that will last through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Rain is likely to start falling around 2 p.m. and there is a chance of thunderstorm.

Along with the rain Friday night, strong winds are expected with gusts up to 30 miles per hour. The low is expected to be around 50° degrees.

Showers will continue Saturday with the possibility of thunderstorm. The high will be near 56° degrees and the low around 46° degrees.

Expect the sun to return on Sunday, though there are likely to be showers in the morning before 10 a.m. There will be some clouds, with a high of 54° degrees and a low around 44° predicted.

On Monday, there should be sun and just-right temperatures for Presidents Day. There's a high near 57° degrees on order for the day.
