Sharp HospiceCare announced today that it has acquired a 1.1-acre residential property in Bonita, where its third Hospice Home will be located.
A dedication and blessing of the site, across from the Sweetwater Women's Club, is scheduled for Wednesday. Construction work, which will include razing of the existing residence, is set for August and move-in could take place next year, according to Sharp.
Plans for the new 6,000-square-foot home feature a modern hacienda design and six private patient rooms with patios.
Sharp HospiceCare currently operates two hospice homes -- one in Del Cerro and the other in La Mesa. The homes are custom-designed and placed in established residential neighborhoods, according to Sharp.
The San Diego Hospice overlooking Mission Valley is set to close in a couple of months. Its operations are being taken over by another health care provider, Scripps Health.
