With summer nipping at our heels, it’s time to make plans for children on break from school. The city's day camp program might be just the ticket for little ones looking for excitement.
Starting June 25, the city will offer a 10-week summer day camp program at the , 3131 School Lane. Children in 1st through 8th grades will enjoy daily activities as well as a weekly field trip to nearby attractions, including the Chula Vista Nature Center, Soak City, and a Padres game.
In addition to the outings, children will participate in age-appropriate games, sports, and arts and crafts. Indoor activities include pillow polo, dodge ball and bastketball. Outside on the athletic field children will engage in games such as kickball, capture the flag, and Kings & Queens.
The early morning hours feature board games, reading and movies.
Weekly day camp sessions will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday, through Aug. 31. The cost is $95 per week, $80 for a three-day plan, and $35 for a single day. There is a $10 sibling discount on the weekly rate.

Parents can register their child for camp from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday at City Hall, 3232 Main St. Payment is required for registration.
