Skateboarder Hospitalized After Being Hit by Vehicle

The Sunday night accident occurred in the 7300 block of Central Avenue.

A 20-year-old man was hospitalized Sunday after being struck by a vehicle while riding his skateboard in Lemon Grove, authorities said.

The accident in the 7300 block of Central Avenue was reported at 7:35 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Victor Rivera.

The man was wearing dark clothing and listening to an iPod when he passed in front of a vehicle and was struck on his left side, Rivera said.

His left leg was broken and he suffered a contusion to the back of his head and a laceration to the left side of his head, the sergeant said, noting none of the injuries were life-threatening.

The driver remained at the scene, Rivera said.
