‘Unprecedented’ Event Leaves Lemon Grove—and County—in the Dark

Officials urge residents to stay home. SDG&E crews are working to bring the system back online.

As Lemon Grove prepared to spend the night in the dark, city workers placed stop signs at major intersections and Sheriff's deputies directed traffic.

SDG&E referred to Thursday's outage as “unprecedented” and without warning. It says all its crews are working to restore power to the region. There is no estimate as to when that will be. The utility has not determined the cause of the outage.

Meantime, county officials urge residents to stay safe at home. Schools will be closed on Friday. The trolley is not running, though buses are, according to city officials. If you must be out on the road, use caution. Without traffic lights, all intersections become four-way stops. Gas stations are closed.
