Meet your instructor, Connie Beck:
I've been an organic gardening instructor and
landscape designer for the past 22 years,
including 10 years teaching vocational horticulture
at the San Diego County women's jail. In the past I
have also enjoyed being a docent and nature interpreter
(Canyoneer) for the Audubon Society and Natural
History Museum. I volunteered for 8 years for National Wildlife Federation
to help people create habitats in schools, churches,
businesses, and backyards. I also volunteer with California
Native Plant Society to promote the use of our own beautiful
plants which are so well-adapted for this area, and I head up
their propagation program.
My belief is that one person at a time can make a
difference by giving up toxic chemicals and
providing the basic necessities for wildlife: food,
water, cover and a place to raise their young.
