2011 Treganza History Essay Competition Awards Night

The Lemon Grove Historical Society will hold awards night in the 2011 Treganza History Essay Competition for third graders in Lemon Grove schools at 6 p.m. on June 7 at the City Council meeting in the Community Center.

In third grade, pupils study local history. Dr. Amorita Treganza, famed children's optometrist and former president of the historical society, launched the annual competition in 1990 to encourage children's interest in history.

This year's competition required students to visit the Lemon Grove History Mural and select one of the sections to write about.

All are welcome. Come and cheer on our little scholars as they romp to the podium for their prizes.

The historical society is grateful to the Kiwanis Club of Lemon Grove for their support of the history essay competition.
