Navy Brass: Quintet Plays Holiday Concert

The band will spread some cheer with a patriotic celebration at the library.

Get into the patriotic spirit with some over at the Lemon Grove Library.

The Lemon Grove library is featuring a patriotic and holiday music concert by the Navy Region Southwest Brass Quintet next week. The band is made of five musicians from the Navy and includes all brass instruments, like trumpets, trombones and tubas.

Also at the holiday cheer celebration, there will be a special presentation by retired Navy Lieutenant Travis Smith. Smith is a substitute teacher currently pursuing his teaching credential and will give a motivational speech at the library based on his life experiences.

The celebration will culminate with the graduation ceremony for the library's Multiplication League, an after-school library program focusing on third grade math that’s taught by Mater Cofield. Fifteen students from the Multiplication League will be graduating from the first session of this program.

Branch Manager Amparo Madera said the holiday cheer event is “the perfect blend of patriotism and holiday spirit.”
