Eating healthy: Breaking the bank or just an excuse?

Eating healthy apparently costs upwards of $100 more per person annually. What do you think?

A recent article I read at http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/health/2015852675_healthy10.html by way of the Journal of Health Affairs did research suggesting that eating "healthy" can cost hundreds of dollars more per year than eating junk food.

Its an interesting analysis, but full of "overweight" detail.

For one, as we do live in California, we are fortunate to have fresh produce readily available. Our produce alone at farmers markets, local groceries and larger stores like Henry's Market make fresh food accessible and somewhat affordable. As a matter of fact, I was in Henry's the other day and I was able to buy twice the amount of fresh strawberries vs a one-cup pack of frozen strawberries.

Do you believe that this research applies to us here in San Diego? Do you feel you pay a lot more to eat fresh food vs canned or fast food?
