Kiwanigram: Oct. 2, 2013

Members attended the Main Street Promenade grand opening ceremony.

PREZ “Cul” had  John PIPES  lead the pledge. PREZ “Cul” gave a fine invocation.  Belated Happy Birthday greetings to Kevin SWARTZBERG (Sept 2), Craig LAKE (Sept 12); and, now, to Adolph HELGESON (Oct 7).

Congratulations to all!!!  PREZ “Cul” and Francine attended Lt Governor Sergio ROSAS’ Installation, and many thanks to both!  We also sincerely hope that  Sandy KESSLER, new Union Bank Manager, will  join our fine club and replace Nora ACOSTA who moved North.

On September 27th (Friday), Pam WATT, Del KAY, Dale CHAMBERLAIN, John PIPES, and Adolph HELGESON attended the Grand Opening of the “Main Street Promenade” at the Lemon Grove Trolley Depot from 4PM – 6PM.  A Kiwanis Table was set up at the site to represent our Kiwanis Club; and we were next to the Lemon Grove Soroptimists Club.  Good show!!!

Attendance was great today, and it was good to see Craig LAKE, Mary Ella BENNETT, and Kevin SWARTZBERG ready to start doing their part in the new Fiscal Year.  Our thoughts and prayers continue to be for Si BRUMBAUGH and his fine family.

There was no Finemaster today; and the raffle was won by Craig LAKE who pulled out a White $5 chip…..and he donated it to “Miracle Mile Of Quarters”.  Good Show!!!

Note:  There is only 1 White Chip and 1 Blue $25 Chip left.  At our next meeting, the $25 will be up for grabs!!! “Installation Of Officers” will be held during our regular meeting on October 16th.  John PIPES advised that he will also attend the Division Council Meeting that evening.  Good show, Big John!!!

NOTICE:    Our next  meeting will be held on October 16th .  That’s Board Of Directors meeting day; so be there to approve some important Kiwanis business and support your club’s activities.

The Installation of Officers for FY 2013 – 2014 will take place at this meeting and we expect every member to be there to support our fine club. We need an accurate HEAD COUNT.  Please immediately notify Del KAY (619) 281-9582 or E-Mail him at del1235@cox.net if you haven’t advised him already that you and any other guests will be in attendance.

The following meeting will be held on November 6th .  We will be looking forward to seeing all of you in attendance; and to begin to see what we can do to get some new members and build up our fine club.  Since Craig LAKE will be out-of-town, PREZ “Cul” will select the “Finemaster” for this meeting.

Del KAY and Dale CHAMBERLAIN worked their 2nd Home Charger Game on September  29th at Qualcomm Stadium to continue to raise funds for our club.  Good job!!!  Hopefully, Adolph HELGESON will be able to complete training at the stadium so that, perhaps, he can work a few games for us too.  If any other member would like to give it a try, contact Dale CHAMBERLAIN for further information.

We hope everyone have gotten their dues paid up-to-date.  Adolph HELGESON, and your club, greatly appreciates your prompt cooperation.  Let’s have a great year and do all we can to be an “active” Kiwanian for our club and community.

The Lemon Grove Fire Department will have their “Pancake Breakfast & Open House” on October 5th (Saturday) from 7AM – 10AM; and Open House will be from 8AM – 12 Noon. All proceeds benefit local charities and deserve our support.
