Kiwanigram: Sept. 4, 2013

The late Si Brumbaugh was remembered by his fellow Kiwanians.

“MEMBERS IN BLACK”

John PIPES covered for PREZ “Cul” at today’s meeting, and he had Dale CHAMBERLAIN lead the pledge.  Debbie SOHL gave a fine invocation.  Our distinguished guest was Lt Governor Doug FROST, and he said he fondly remembers recently meeting Si BRUMBAUGH on a prior recent visit.  We sadly announce that Si BRUMBAUGH passed away at home on August 21st.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Si BRUMBAUGH’s family, because Si BRUMBAUGH was our “1960 Club President”; and he was the “1960 Division 11 Lieutenant Governor”.  He was a truly dedicated Kiwanian who supported his club right until the end.  He recently had surgery for a brain tumor; but made a special effort to be in attendance at every meeting with the help of his care-taker who transported him to our meetings.   That’s what I call an “Active Kiwanian” deserving of our highest respect and affection. We also sincerely hope that  Sandy KESSLER, new Union Bank Manager, will  join our fine club and replace Nora ACOSTA who moved North.  We had only four members in attendance today because of vacations, etc.  However, we need you to communicate before each meeting if you will be unable to be in attendance.  We can no longer afford to buy more lunches than are needed during our meetings….especially like what happened at today’s meeting.  Please support your club.

There was no “Finemaster”; and the drawing was won by Debbie SOHL who pulled out a $5 White Chip. Therefore, Debbie SOHL will be the “Finemaster” at our next meeting. Note:  There are only 3 White Chips and 1 Blue $25 Chip left....so try your luck at the next meeting.  That’s the last meeting for the year; and someone will win the $25!!! The Board of Directors has approved having our “Installation Of Officers” during our regular meeting on October 16th.  Lt Governor Douglas FROST advised that In-Coming Lt Governor Sergio ROSAS may also be able to preside at the installation. It is essential that every member let us know ASAP that you will be in attendance so that we will have a great Installation of Officers, and also order enough lunch for everyone. We need your support!!!

NOTICE:    Our next  meeting will be held on September 18th .  That’s Board Of Directors meeting day; so be there to approve some important Kiwanis business and support your club’s activities.  Also, we should have member(s) attend the the De-Installation of Lt Governor Doug FROST, and the Installation of 2013 – 2014 Lt Gov. Sergio R. ROSAS.  It will take place at Bonita Golf Course, 5540 Sweetwater Road, Bonita, 6:00PM, at $40 per person.  Bring a Gift Basket for their raffle.  That meeting will be in lieu of the regular Division Council Meeting.

The following meeting will be held on October 2nd.  We will be looking forward to seeing all of you in attendance; and to begin to see what we can do to get those new members and build up our fine club.

Del KAY and Dale CHAMBERLAIN will be working the Charger Game on September 9th at Qualcomm Stadium to continue to raise funds for our club.  Hopefully, Adolph HELGESON will be able to complete training at the stadium so that, perhaps, he can work a few games for us too.  If any other member would like to give it a try, contact Dale CHAMBERLAIN for further information.

Our last FY 2012-2013 meeting will be on September 18th!!!   We hope everyone will have gotten their dues paid up-to-date by then.  Adolph HELGESON, and your club, greatly appreciates your prompt cooperation.
