Something Cool in Lemon Grove? City Beat Says So

Will the Citronica development not only boost business in Lemon Grove, but give it something fashionable to brag about? Perhaps, says a local alternative weekly.

Let's just say the charms of Lemon Grove are lost on City Beat.

To a critic at the San Diego alternative weekly, the community “ain’t the coolest kid in the classroom” and is “best known for a giant, gaudy concrete lemon.”

But the Citronica development may change that, the publication says, due in part to the reputation of the architect behind it, Foundation For Form, a firm known for its mixed-use projects.

The critic ponders what will fill the complex, a multi-million redevelopment, but concludes: “Any new business at all, quite frankly, will help turn Lemon Grove into lemonade.”
