Hugh Elvin Laird—an East County resident—died April 29, according to a U-T San Diego obituary.
He was 82.
He served in the U.S. Navy, worked for General Dynamics and Solar Tubines and was an officer of the American Legion Post #282 of La Mesa, according to the newspaper.
He died at the Lemon Grove Care & Rehabilitation, according to the newspaper.
A memorial service will be held May 9 at Greenwood Salli Lynn Chapel.
