Meet Your Expanded Patch Team

Lemon Grove Patch has added a cadre of editors who are here to cover, connect and serve this community.

Have you noticed something new at Lemon Grove Patch? We’ve got an expanded team of editors devoted to the site.

Melanie Johnson, Renee Schiavone, Gina Tenorio, Mirna Alfonso and Guy McCarthy have been local editors with Patch since we launched, cultivating and nurturing sites around Southern California. These editors have worked with Patch editorial teams in a number of capacities, covering myriad news beats and developing thoughtful and engaging content.

Together, this team of journalists aims to bring the same caliber of coverage you’ve grown to expect from Patch, and much more. They'll be joined by Associate Regional Editor Dan Abendschein.

There’s something new for me, too. I’ve stepped into a brand-new role as a field editor developing content for a group of Patch sites in the West. And while I’m sad to be leaving Lemon Grove, I’m excited by the challenges ahead of me as I work to help Patch grow even more.

Mostly, I’m thankful to each of you who has embraced Lemon Grove Patch and made it your place to connect with the community. I’m especially grateful to a number of you whose help has been invaluable as I made my way around town.

Thank you, Helen Ofield, president of the Lemon Grove Historical Society, whose award-winning column, The Way We Were, runs here every Monday. You are a treasure!

Thank you, school trustee Katie Dexter, whose warmth and kindness bring joy to Tuesday night board meetings.

Thank you, Mark and Anne Stapleton, pastors of Cornerstone Community Church, whose care extends beyond the congregation and across the city in so many ways.

Thank you, crime prevention specialist Jim Wieboldt of the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Department, whose heart is as big as they come.

Thank you, Graham Mitchell, who is an ace city manager and a straight shooter.

And thank you, Dr. Gina Potter, assistant superintendent of business services for the Lemon Grove School District, who so aptly and patiently helped me understand the confounding details of the district budget.

I hope that you will all welcome Melanie, Renee, Gina, Mirna, Guy and Dan with the same warmth you’ve shown me.
