Poll: Should Mom Accused of Leaving Tot in Hot Car Give Up Daughter?

Starley Cristal Geart faces child-endangerment charges in National City shopping center incident.

A 4-month-old girl was perhaps minutes from death when she was rescued from a hot car with windows rolled up Tuesday afternoon at a National City shopping center.  Her mother, Starley Cristal Geart, —accused of leaving the infant strapped into the back seat amid temperatures as high as 140 degrees. If convicted, Geart might go to jail. But what should be done to protect her daughter?

After she gets out of jail (maybe a few weeks in this court system), she should have to take 2 years of mandatory child development. After she completes that, and is no longer able to have anymore children, she could possibly get her child back. Her reaction seemed like she was suffering from post partem depression, or she's on drugs, and she probably didn't want the child to begin with.

The child should go to protective services, unless her relatives are deemed mentally stable and financially able to provide for this young child. No one wants to see a child be separated from their mother, but let's face facts...she was not being a mother. I don't even let my dog stay in the vehicle, windows down or not! If it is too hot she stays at home in safety, or she comes with me under my protection.
I have no sympathy for this woman's lack of nurturing instincts...she has none. :( Bless the child someone came to the rescue!

What is wrong with you people? You don't take a child away from it's mother. Are you even thinking of the child? You all are so absorbed in what the "Nanny State" should do. This is an issue to be handled by the family and close friends. They can decide if the child should live with a relative for a while. Yes, the child and mother are very lucky someone came to the rescue, but you don't break up a family over that - serious as it is. Child development course? Please . . .! Sterilization? GET REAL!

It's a woman's choice.
ms.sc. July 28, 2012 at 02:42 am
You ASK what is Wrong with you people? I am a mother, I was a nanny. The little girls first words were my name. Not mama or dada. I was blessed to be with a very loving and kind family..there is no way I would leave my precious nanny children, or my best friend nor my precious dog in an attended , un-airconditioned vehicle.. You Do Not Leave Loved Ones in a car unattend I have no respect for her decision. She sounds sadley very ill.

It's a woman's choice to leave her baby in a hot, locked car? She could have died! Just trying to be clear here.
ms.sc. July 28, 2012 at 05:16 am
No, Sarah. This person they want to call a mother, should not be called so. Read the article and then make your decision. I would never leave my child, my dog, my aunt nor uncle...do you get my drift? This woman left her flesh and blood...her child. She left a precious infant...why?
Komfort July 28, 2012 at 10:16 am
It's a woman's choice.

Yes it's a woman's choice to have an abortion. But it's never her choice to neglect, abandon or kill her child once it's already born!
crazy July 28, 2012 at 01:21 pm
Look, I never said what she did wasn't wrong. These people need help. The baby needed help, and she got it. The mother needs help, and the compassionate people in her life need to help her. The WORST thing you can do is take a child away from it's mother. Heal the family, don't let your social programing make you react in an inhumane way.
This might just be a set-up anyway. Especially since it's reported in the mainstream news. Problem, reaction, solution - the Hegelian dialectic. That IS the way social programing is done. Don't be a victim. Family is important.
ms.sc. July 28, 2012 at 02:49 pm
crazy, if family was soooo important to this woman, she would have Never left her baby in a sweltering, deadly hot vehicle! She left the child to what...shop for nail polish?! She is NOT a mentally stable person.

Is it a woman's choice to snort cocaine while pregnant?
crazy July 28, 2012 at 04:12 pm
Why are you judging? The only information you have comes from mainstream media. Why not help people instead of supporting state violence? You want to teach her a lesson, rather than just help her to come to grips with her situation. Your programming is showing.

Can we please stop with the conspiracy theories on this blog. Between the Dark Knight shooter and this lady, it appears that some people can't accept the fact that others are capable of great evil. Or at least very stupid ones.
LemonGroove July 28, 2012 at 07:13 pm
Yes! All of the above. You get lessons before you get a license to drive and pass a test. To have a child you need to be stupid enough not to bother to get birth control, Unless, of course, you want a baby, which apparently she didn't.
LemonGroove July 28, 2012 at 07:16 pm
No the worst thing you can do for this child is to put her back with a mother who did not love her. Family is important, where was the stupid mother's-having more kids too? Take the baby away. Adopt her out to people on a waiting list for children. Who said the baby was ok? We don't know that she's ok. All we know is that she's not with that stupid mother, and is safe. We don't know if she's brain damaged.
LemonGroove July 28, 2012 at 07:18 pm
Help her what? She most likely had medical help, Did she get any mental health help? It's available. My program, is life, dunce. Sterilize the bitch.

Is it great evil to bring a crack baby into this world? Should the mother have chosen to abort the crack fetus before she became responsible for another life?
Sarah Riccitelli July 28, 2012 at 08:05 pm
Let's stay out of the abortion question because 1) is irrelevant to this debate as it concerns a mother who left her already born baby in the car, 2) there is no evidence that the baby has/had crack in its system and 3) nor is there evidence that this mom had other kids.

Is it a woman's choice to destroy a single cell?
Not always... http://www.dividedstates.com/abortion-eagle%E2%80%99s-egg-vs-human-fetus/ People that only worry about life, after the government timetable tells them it it is life, are idiots, per the government.

And when does life start?
LG Joe July 28, 2012 at 10:47 pm
Life started some 100 billion years ago. Individuals, and all life forms, are seeds of their latest evolutionary iteration. Some minds focus on the minutiae, others see the big picture.

What is wrong with you that you think, "no matter what" a child shouldn't be taken away from its mother? There are women who have no ability to be mothers to their children, yet they have them anyway. They don't want the kid and neglect and abuse them. That is no life for a child. It causes the child to be insecure and have feelings that they aren't worthy of love and respect, which leads to self-destructive behavior. This woman knew better. You can't tell me she didn't. She didn't want the responsibility of a child, so she just left her in the car probably hoping she would die. She needs to have the child taken away forever, so that it has a chance to grow up in a loving family.

I was there today for court for a family member, as I was waiting this lady and her family/friends were all joking about it. Talking about how the news people were there and how they were gonna be famous . They were all loud and acting shameless. Every news person that would walk by them they would be like what channel are you from. Then after there was some one who said something to them and one of the girls was like, you swear Like if this is the Casey Antony trial.. First of all you left your baby girl in the car where she had almost died.. You deserve to be locked up for life. I'm so sick and tired of people thinking they could do this and get away with it or even think it was a joke... Come on now a 4 month old baby in a hot car of 140 degrees. Thank God for the people who found the baby and called the police, if not the poor baby would of died

Komfort, dont bring another issue into this sad story. Enough said. Prayers for the children. The woman should not be called a mother.

Upload the photo that you took of your equipment. Provide a detailed description of your item, because the buyer won't get to see it before purchasing it. Thanks a lot.
