Arraignment Today for La Mesa Suspect in Taxi Driver Slaying

Demetrius Sissac is charged with one count of first-degree murder in Lemon Grove case.

Arraignment is scheduled today in the El Cajon Superior Court for a La Mesa man accused in the slaying of a taxi driver in Lemon Grove last weekend.

Demetrius Sissac, 19, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, said San Diego sheriff's Lt Larry Nesbit.

Jalaludin Hamrah, a 39-year-old immigrant from Afghanistan, was found dead in is cab, which rolled over in the 3400 block of Main Street around 3:50 a.m. last Sunday. Paramedics discovered a bullet wound in his upper body when they pulled him from the wreckage.

Sissac was booked into custody on suspicion of murder and was being held without bail pending arraignment.
