Chase of Up to 120 MPH Ends in Lemon Grove

The driver was taken into custody after trying to flee on foot. The chase began in San Diego on Interstate 5.


A high-speed chase that began on Interstate 5 in San Diego ended on the Massachusetts Avenue offramp in Lemon Grove.

The driver, authorities told CBS8.com, tried to flee on foot after losing control of his vehicle on the offramp, but witnesses pointed him out so he could be arrested.

Tuesday's chase reached speeds of 120 mph, according to the report and a California Highway Patrol officer had a tire blow on him during the pursuit.

The chase began at Mission Bay Drive and continued south on I-5 until heading on state Route 94.
