A 72-year-old driver from Lemon Grove struck three teens who were walking home from school.

A driver from Lemon Grove lost control of his pickup truck and veered off the road on Thursday, striking three teenagers walking home from Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley.

The driver of the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was 72-year-old John Reyes, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident happened at 2:50 p.m. Thursday, on Sweetwater Road just south of Blossom Lane. The truck, which was northbound, drove over a concrete curb and hit a power pole, severing it at the ground, according to CHP public affairs officer Brian Pennings.

The truck then hit the girl and two boys, who were on the sidewalk heading south, Pennings said.
