The driver of a BMW was killed when he struck a bicyclist and lost control of the vehicle, sheriff's officials said.
The driver, a man in his late 50s, struck the bicyclist in the vicinity of Central Avenue and Federal Boulevard about 9:45 p.m. Saturday, according to sheriff's Sgt. Herbert Taft.
The driver lost control and the car went up an embankment. It rolled several times, and partially ejected the driver, who died at the scene, Taft said.
The bicyclist sustained only minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, Taft said.
What caused the crash remained under investigation, Taft said.
