Fire Destroys Barber Shop on Broadway; Cause Under Investigation

The blaze at the Lemon Grove business was reported late Sunday night.

A barber shop was destroyed by fire, and an adjacent business was severely damaged Sunday night in Lemon Grove. The cause of the blaze was under investigation, according to authorities.

The fire at Angel Veez Barber Shop at 7435 Broadway was reported at 11:38 p.m. Sunday, according to San Diego County sheriff's Sgt. Luis Chavez.

Heavy smoke was seen coming from the back of the business when crews arrived on the scene. It took 17 firefighters nearly a half hour to knock down the blaze, said Monica Zech, Heartland Fire & Rescue spokeswoman.

The Lemon Grove Fire Department was assisted by San Diego Fire & Rescue in putting out the blaze. No injuries were reported.

The barber shop was destroyed by flames and smoke, and a nail salon next door sustained heavy smoke damage, according to Zech. Damages are estimated to be about $150,000.

The Sheriff's Department's bomb/arson unit was heading up the investigation, Chavez said.

Nice if you can actually pass such a bill but we are dealing with politicians who cherish the powerRead More they have attained rising to the top. In actuality this has "A Snowballs Chance In Hell" of passing, but kudos for the effort.
