Details as to what happened at the home are unclear, but officials say the four appear to have drowned. The bodies were discovered at 6:40 a.m., according to San Diego Police Officer Frank Cali. The deceased are all believed to be members of the same family.

CW 6 News reported that a man, a woman and a child about 7 years old were found in or near a swimming pool in the home's backyard, while a 17-year-old girl, was found inside in a bathroom. The bodies were discovered by a relative of the family.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that rescuers called to the home found a man, woman and girl in the home's pool, and another female in a bathtub. All four were pronounced dead, apparently from drowning, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Maurice Luque.

"We don't know who (is responsible) at this point,'' SDPD Lt. Ernie Herbert told reporters late this morning. "The (homicide) investigators have just arrived. They're interviewing neighbors, trying to see if there are any ... witnesses to this.''
