Authorities say someone inside a pickup truck fired a pistol into the air in a Lomita-area neighborhood.

Someone inside a pickup truck fired a pistol into the air in a Lomita-area neighborhood this afternoon, prompting a lockdown at a nearby primary school until authorities determined that there was no lingering threat.

The non-injury gunfire on the west side of Audubon Elementary in the 8100 block San Vicente Street was reported shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to San Diego police.

School administrators kept all students secured in their classrooms while officers searched the campus and surrounding area, SDPD spokesman Ed Zwibel said.
