Gunshot Wound to Head Cited as Cause of Lemon Grove Death

Avel Michael Jordan Edgar died from a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said this week in the first official confirmation of the Lemon Grove man’s cause of death.

Edgar, 23, was pronounced dead at his home at 8232 Mount Vernon St. at 10:10 p.m. March 14, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office. 

Sheriff’s deputies had responded to a report of gunfire about 9:45 p.m. Several people who were at the home when authorities arrived said two men were involved in the assault, authorities said.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were seeking two men in connection to the fatal shooting.

Detectives from the Lemon Grove Sheriff’s Station, the sheriff’s homicide detail and U.S. Border Patrol were investigating the incident.
