Lemon Grove Deputy Injured While Chasing Drug Suspect

The deputy suffered minor injuries from a fall, and was treated at the scene.

A sheriff's deputy tripped and fell while chasing a suspect in Lemon Grove early today but suffered only minor injuries, authorities said.

The deputy approached two people at Broadway and Olive Street about 1:15 a.m. in response to a report of suspicious people in the area, according to San Diego County sheriff's Deputy Daniel Gutierrez.

One of the people was arrested on the spot on suspicion of drug crimes while the other managed to run away, Gutierrez said in a statement.

The person under arrest was taken into custody on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, being under the influence of a controlled substance and destruction of evidence, Gutierrez said. The person's name was not immediately released.

The deputy injured in the foot chase was treated at the scene, Gutierrez said.

Nice if you can actually pass such a bill but we are dealing with politicians who cherish the powerRead More they have attained rising to the top. In actuality this has "A Snowballs Chance In Hell" of passing, but kudos for the effort.
