Missing East County Man Returns Home

An 86-year-old man who suffers from Alzheimer's disease and went missing after boarding a bus at Barona Casino returned home to his family today, authorities said.

Surveillance video showed Samuel Tabiendo boarding the bus around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

He was at the casino with his wife when the couple got split up, authorities said, noting that Tabiendo also suffers from dementia and high blood pressure.

The bus boarded by Tabiendo is used to transport casino patrons to Lakeside and El Cajon. Deputies and El Cajon police searched both areas where the bus drops off patrons but could not find Tabiendo.

Sometime early today, he returned home, authorities said without elaboration.
