Suspect in Lemon Grove Murder Awaiting Extradition

A man suspected in the death of a woman who was found with a fatal head injury on a Lemon Grove street is still awaiting extradition to San Diego County, officials tell Patch.

Casey Tschida, 32, was found and arrested this weekend in Happy Valley, Ore., where he had reportedly fled to his mother's home, according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Glenn Giannantonio.

According to the San Diego District Attorney's office, Tschida remained jailed in Oregon as of Tuesday afternoon, as local officials work on the extradition process.

As soon as Tschida is brought down to the area, and is "safely" in a San Diego jail, he'll be arraigned on charges related to the death of Jennifer Krajnak, Patch is told.

The man is suspected of gunning down Krajnak Pacific Avenue, near Broadway and Buena Vista Ave early Thursday. 

"Tschida shot [Krajnak] once in the head and left her lying in the street," Lt. Giannantonio wrote in a news release.

Jail records from Clackamas County, where Tschida was being held, indicate the suspect was being held on no bail, on a charge of "fugitive of another state."
