Padres to Honor First Responders Tonight

More than 100 uniformed personnel from around the county will participate in a pre-game ceremony.

The San Diego Padres will begin their first responders recognition program at tonight's game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Petco Park.

The Padres Foundation, in partnership with Qualcomm, will present a financial contribution to organizations that support spouses and children of fallen officers.

San Diego Police Department Chief William Lansdowne and San Diego Fire- Rescue Department Chief Javier Mainar will throw ceremonial first pitches.

More than 100 uniformed personnel from the SDPD, San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, Border Patrol, California Highway Patrol, FBI, Harbor Patrol, San Diego Lifeguards, and San Diego County Sheriff's Department will line the bases for a special pregame ceremony, marking the start of six salutes to first responders at Tuesday home games.

"The Padres have a longstanding history of honoring those who serve and San Diego's first responders serve our community selflessly every day," Padres Executive Chairman Ron Fowler said.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize their bravery and thank them and their families for the sacrifices they make on our behalf."
