Authorities asked the public today for help in identifying a motorist involved in a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist last week at a Mira Mesa intersection.
The victim was riding to the east when a white Honda Civic hatchback entered Scripps Poway Parkway from northbound Interstate 15 directly in his path against a red light about 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to San Diego police.
The motorcycle hit the driver's side of the car, hurling the 33-year-old rider onto the roadway and leaving him with severe leg injuries, SDPD Sgt. Ray Battrick said.

The driver then re-entered the freeway and fled to the north.
The Civic -- believed to be a 2001 to 2004 model with a roof rack, tinted windows and dark-colored wheel rims -- lost a side-view mirror in the crash and likely sustained other visible damage, as well, according to investigators.
