A fire broke out on the north side of state Route 94 Saturday, diverting traffic but causing no damage.

Fire crews quickly put out a smoky brush fire that briefly shut down a state Route 94 off-ramp to Lemon Grove Avenue Saturday afternoon. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

The Highway Patrol responded to reports of a brush fire on the north side of the highway just after 3 p.m. Firefighters from Heartland Fire arrived minutes later and had the fire fully contained by 3:30 p.m., according to the CHP.

The off-ramp from westbound state Route 94 to Lemon Grove Avenue was closed by fire crews, but was re-opened shortly.
