A suspect in the shooting death of a San Diego woman was behind bars in Oregon Sunday, awaiting transport back to Southern California to face a charge of murder, authorities said.
Casey Tschida, 32, was found and arrested in Happy Valley, Ore., where he had reportedly fled to his mother's home, according to San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Glenn Giannantonio.
Detectives Sunday were on their way to collect the suspect from Oregon authorities.
He is suspected of gunning down Jennifer Krajnak in the 7600 block of Pacific Avenue, officials said.
Krajnak was found by two deputies patrolling the area early Thursday.
"Tschida shot her once in the head and left her lying in the street," the lieutenant wrote in a news release.
According to investigators, the two had been at a Lemon Grove bar but left separately; they knew each other, authorities said.
Investigators said the suspect approached the victim as she was walking home.
