Suspect Jailed After Stabbing on Drexel Drive

A 35-year-old man is in custody following the incident Wednesday night.

A fight at a home on Drexel Drive ended with one man suffering multiple stab wounds Wednesday night and another man jailed on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.

Authorities say the suspect, Curtis Bennett, 35, was located hours after the incident and arrested early Thursday morning.

Deputies responding to a home in the 1600 block of Drexel Drive found 41-year-old John Thomas on the porch, bleeding heavily from multiple stab wounds, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Davis of the Lemon Grove station.

Authorities say a witness reported that the two men, who are both residents of the home, were in a fight prior to the stabbing.

The suspect, who fled the home, was located by deputies near the scene about 1 a.m. and was taken into custody without incident, according to authorities.

Thomas was transported to a local hospital and underwent surgery, according to Davis.
